Mid Day Rant: Papelgone

Apparently the Phillies have been too caught up in their
world series title to watch Papelbon over the past few years.
After a wild weekend of college and professional football, one would think today's rant would have to do about football. Yet, I have decided to go a different route and talk about the Redsox.  On Friday, Redsox closer signed a deal with the the Philadelphia Phillies for a four year, $50 million contract.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME PHILLIES!  Have you watched Papelbon erode over the past few years.  He is nothing compared to 2007 when he helped lead the Redsox to a world series.

As a Redsox fan, this does no bother me at all.  Good for Papelbon because he is robbing Philadelphia.  Like I said, he is nothing compared to what he used to be.  The Redsox are cleaning house and this was just another piece of our former world series puzzle to leave the Sox.  The off season will surely be an interesting one for the Redsox as we have a lot of work to do after this season's monumental collapse.

  1. HAHAHAHAHHAA.. i love that you totally dissed papelbon. he was ur boy for so long man. how u just gonna turn ur back on him like that? I don't care who you are right now, at this point why would any red sox want to remain there? did you forget the epic collapse that was more than papeldonk's blown save that failed to force a tie breaker (and at that point it would have given the sox a half game lead, although 4 minutes later longo teed off on the AA yankees. Worst collapse ever, no manager, no gm (?), no leadership, no love, no thanks. Papelbon was right to take the money a run. Ortiz is next.

  2. I disagree. Papelbon had the second-highest K/9 and BB/9 rates of his career last season, combining to a ridiculous 8.70 K/BB. He's as good as ever.

  3. Im gonna come to kennedy's defense here in his claim that "He is nothing compared to 2007 when he helped lead the Redsox to a world series."
